In Matthew 13:1–23, Jesus tells the Parable of the Sower and describes four different kinds of soil—each representing a different response to the Word of God.


Frank Neudorf walks through each type of soil: the hardened path where the seed is quickly taken away, the rocky soil that receives the Word with joy but has no deep roots, the thorny soil where the cares and riches of this world choke out spiritual fruit, and finally the good soil that hears, understands, and produces fruit.


The sermon also explores why Jesus taught in parables and why spiritual understanding is connected to our willingness to hear, understand, and respond to God's Word.


The same seed is sown, and the same Sower is at work—but the soils are different. The question for each of us is: What type of soil are you?


Are there rocks that need to be removed? Thorns that need to be pulled? Is your heart hardened toward God's Word? Or are you allowing God's Word to take root and produce fruit in your life?
