Community Church & Atlas Youth Retreat 2024

Summer is here which means the Community Church and Atlas Youth Retreat is near! Share this registration packet with your parents and friends so together you can learn about what the weekend has in store. Please come and join us for a super fun weekend filled with beautiful scenery, awesome activities, and deepening our relationship with Jesus.
When are we going?
We will be leaving on Sunday, August 4th and returning on Wednesday, August 7th. Please arrive at Community
Church at 8:30 am on August 4th so we can leave the church at 9:00 am.
Where will we be going?
We are going to Deer Creek Camp in Medina, TX which is 354 miles from Community Church of Seminole, TX.

Who will be speaking?
Our speaker this year will be Gord Penner.
Gord is the professor of Old Testament at Steinbach Bible College inSteinbach, Manitoba. He will be speaking on running the race well regardless of circumstances.
Who can go?
Anyone who is 14 years of age or older by the first day of youth retreat may attend. We have limited spots available, so first come, first served!
How much does the retreat cost?
Registration fee is $100 for those who did not help with the fundraiser. If you did help with the fundraiser, there will be no registration cost this year as our fundraiser did so well (if you do not know what your cost is, please ask Johnny Dyck). The registration fee does not cover snacks to and from the camp or any extra spending.
When is the deadline for Registration?
Please complete and return the registration forms by July 28th! We will be accepting registration forms and fees on the Wednesdays and Sundays before and up to July 28th.
How do parents reach campers in an emergency?
You may reach any of the youth leaders at the numbers listed below. You may also contact the camp if you are unable to reach the leaders. That number is 830-589-7123.
What to Bring
  • Open heart to hear God’s Word
  • Sleeping bag or sheets
  • Clothes
  • Toiletries (soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, comb, etc)
  • Flashlight
  • Sunscreen, hat
  • Sweater or light jacket
  • Tennis shoes
  • Insect repellent
  • Watch
  • Swimsuit, cover up (for to and from waterfront); beach towel (ONLY modest swimsuits will be allowed; no mid-section or chest should be visible)
  • Extra spending money
  • Bible, notepad, and pen
Note about Electronics
There will be no phones this year at the camp. We will let you have your phones for the long bus drive there and collect them once we get there. The goal of this trip is to spend time together, grow in our faith and have fun. Let’s disconnect ourselves from social media for a few days so we can fully hear God and allow Him to move in our midst.

Deer Creek Camp Waiver Form:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This year the camp is requiring each camper to complete an online waiver form. Parents, please come to the church before youth on either July 3rd, 10th or 17th to complete the waiver. We will have a computer there for you to use.
This is not optional! We don’t want to have to hunt you down to fill out the form.

Community Church & Atlas Youth Code of Conduct

With the understanding that I am responsible for my own actions, I will follow these guidelines:
1. I will participate in scheduled activities of the event as/if physically able.
2. I agree to respect the property and others.
3. I agree to abide by the rule of the event facility as presented to me upon arrival.
4. I will respect adult leaders and members of the Deer Creek Camp Community.
5. During this retreat, I understand that I am under the direction of Community Church and Atlas Church.
I am a representative of the faith community, and my actions should reflect this.
6. I understand the following guidelines will be followed:
a. All conduct shall show respect for all persons and property.
b. Action shall not be directed to physically or mentally hurt or harm another person.
c. All clothing and swimwear shall be of modest nature (nothing revealing or midsection showing).
d. Language used shall not be negative, hurtful or vulgar.
e. Weapons, illegal drugs, alcohol, tobacco, fireworks and vaping usage shall be prohibited. If any of these occur, I will be sent home immediately at my parents’ expense and upon dismissal liability will fall upon myself/parents.
7. I understand these guidelines are necessary to ensure a safe, Christ-centered event for everyone.
Should I choose not to follow them, I understand that I will have to accept the consequences determined by my church’s adult leaders and event staff.
I understand and agree to abide by all the guidelines listed above. I agree
that I will notify my parents or guardians at the time of infractions and may require my dismissal from the retreat.

I have read and understand the guidelines stated in the Code of Conduct
above, and will abide by these guidelines.
